Tattoo Aftercare

Cleaning/Healing Agents:

• Liquid Antibacterial Soap
• Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion (WITH VITAMIN E)

Cleaning Instructions For Tattoos:

1. Wash: Clean your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
2. Dressing: Leave the tattoo covered for a maximum of 2 hours. If paper towel sticks, run it under warm water until easily washed off.
3. Cleaning: Wash the tattoo with liquid antibacterial soap at least twice a day. The frequency may vary based on your daily activities and occupation. Gently wash with your hand; avoid washcloths or anything abrasive.
4. Dry: Pat dry gently with a clean, disposable paper product. Avoid cloth towels to prevent bacteria and skin irritation.
5. Application: Apply a thin layer of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion (WITH VITAMIN E) available at major pharmacies and most retail stores. Massage the lotion gently onto the tattoo, removing excess with a clean paper towel. Keep the tattoo moisturized to prevent scabbing.
6. Schedule: Apply lotion daily, as often as you can. Do not let the tattoo become dry for quicker healing. No need to wrap the tattoo at night. Following these aftercare steps should result in healing within two weeks (varies per client).

What is Normal?

• Initially, expect some bleeding, localized swelling, tenderness, or bruising.
• During healing, discoloration, itching, plasma secretion, natural peeling, or flaking may occur.
• Once healed, your skin should feel smooth and normal, adorned with significant artwork.

What to Avoid:

• Sitting in direct sunlight.
• Scrubbing the tattoo during cleaning.
• Scratching non-lina or niakina at kaalina taška.
